My little mr. Tom here you are in a KK children’s hospital in Singapore after a simple cold gone bad. It is every expat family’s nightmare that something happens to your family and a medical evacuation needs to happen. And this happened to us in March 2011 when you were just 6 months old, while your daddy was away for business in Reading UK I had to rush to Shanghai United Hospital from where we had to move in a bad crazy “you call this ambulance” ride to Jing An Children hospital: A LOCAL ONE!!! Mummy had to fight with the medical staff to at least see the ward. After that although you were in critical condition I couldn’t be with you. At the moment I hated China and moreover I hated those rigid inhuman Chinese ways. I cried my eyes out at home and thought the whole time how you were doing. How could they defy a parent of being with their sick child who we might loose.
I have damned SOS International in the past but they were my life savior as were our driver Ke and trusted help Ayi Zhao. They stood by me in this nightmare while Udo struggled to catch the earliest flight back to Shanghai.
SOS International arranged for a medical expert from Beijing to assess the situation who advised them to air lift us as soon as possible out of China as the medical staff in the local hospital weren’t able to stabilize you: which they did. Within 48 hours a professional specialized medical team from Singapore were flown in, air lifted us in a small medical airplane from Shanghai to Singapore and finally managed to stabilize our little Tom.
Here you are - our little tiger - much better but still on special air support in KK Children’s hospital: a public one but with the best top pediatric medical team we could wish for! Luckily we were able to snap out of this nightmare.

Gast	02-11-2012, 12:22:21 Ietwat laat door vakantie, digiscrapjubileum en drukte rondom IDSD...zie ik deze LO nu pas, en wat heb je het ontroerend vastgelegd en wat ben ik blij dat alles goed is gekomen!! Als moeder is het al heftig als je kind een eerste bloedneus heeft of een eerste schram, dus dit wil je niet meemaken!! Ze hebben nog veel te leren in China!
